In telc Deutsch B1·B2 Pflege, Lesen Teil 1 gives you 4 short work emails and 6 subject lines (a–f). You select the best subject line for each email, and each correct item gives 1 point, so Teil 1 is worth 4 points. The task tests global reading: you find the main message of each email, not every detail.

What is the format of telc Pflege Lesen Teil 1?

The official telc mock exam (Übungstest 1) shows the format on page 10 and 11. The instruction tells candidates to read the subject lines first and the emails after that.

Lesen has 18 points in total. Teil 1 gives 4 of them, so it is the smallest reading part. Our telc Pflege exam guide shows the full exam structure.

In the official answer key, each email has a different subject line.

How does global reading work in Teil 1?

Global reading means that you read for the main message. The subject line names that message in 2 to 5 words. The details in the email support the message, but they do not decide the answer.

Use these three steps for each email:

1. Read all subject lines first. Mark the key noun in each line, for example Fahrkarten or Infektion.
2. Read the first two sentences and the request at the end of the email. Say the main message in three words.
3. Select the subject line with the same message, not the same word. Cross out that line.

Step 3 is the most important step. The two extra subject lines often use a word from an email, but they name a different message.

Which mistakes cost points in Teil 1?

The three mistakes below refer to the practice emails in the next section.

Mistake 1: you match one word, not the message. E-Mail 4 contains the word Händedesinfektion. Subject line f also contains Händedesinfektionsmittel. But E-Mail 4 is about protection measures against an infection on one ward. The disinfectant is one detail of those measures.

Mistake 2: you match the sender, not the topic. E-Mail 3 comes from the Betriebsrat (works council). Subject line c names the Betriebsrat too. But the email is about a cheaper ticket for bus and train, not about an election. The official mock exam uses the same trap: one email has a works council signature, but its topic is training.

Mistake 3: you read every number. E-Mail 2 gives a time, a duration and a phone extension. None of these numbers decides the subject line. If you read each detail slowly, you lose time that you need for Teil 2 and Teil 3.

How much time should Teil 1 take?

telc gives no separate time for Teil 1. Lesen and Sprachbausteine share one block of 60 minutes, and you divide the time yourself. Teil 1 gives 4 points, and Teil 3 gives 6 points. Do not spend more time on Teil 1 than on Teil 3.

If an email is difficult, select the best subject line, mark the item and continue. Go back to the item at the end of the block, when fewer subject lines are open.
