What a generated set looks like
One question, straight from a A1 set
Teil 1 · Ansage (example)
„Guten Tag, hier ist die Praxis Dr. Weber. Ihr Termin am Donnerstag fällt leider aus. Bitte rufen Sie uns an.“
Der Termin am Donnerstag findet statt.
„Fällt aus“ means the appointment is cancelled — so the statement is false. A1 items hinge on exactly these short, high-frequency phrases.
In the generator this comes with full audio, 3 task types and an answer key.
The A1 task types you can generate
The official Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start Deutsch 1) listening module has three parts and takes about 20 minutes, with most recordings played twice. soruLab's A1 generator mirrors those three task types so every practice set feels like the real thing.
| Teil | Audio | Questions |
|---|---|---|
| Teil 1 — Ansagen | 5 short phone / answering-machine messages | 5 × richtig / falsch |
| Teil 2 — Gespräche | 4 short everyday conversations | 4 × multiple choice (a/b/c) |
| Teil 3 — Durchsagen | 5 public announcements to match to a place | 5 × matching |
Why A1 listening needs more than the two official practice tests
At A1 the challenge isn't complex grammar — it's catching numbers, times, names and places at natural speed. The Goethe-Institut publishes only a couple of model tests, and after two listens you've memorised the answers. What builds real A1 listening skill is hearing the same task types with new content, again and again.
soruLab generates a brand-new A1 Hören set on demand: fresh scripts written within A1 vocabulary, spoken by natural neural German voices, with the answer key and full transcript revealed after you submit. Play it as often as you like — the next set is always new.
Common questions
What does the Goethe A1 listening section test?
Understanding very short, slow, clear everyday audio: appointment messages, times and prices, simple dialogues in shops or on the street, and public announcements. Questions are richtig/falsch, simple multiple choice, and matching an announcement to a place.
Is the generated audio really A1 level?
Yes. Scripts are constrained to A1 vocabulary and sentence patterns — short main clauses, present tense, everyday topics like appointments, shopping and directions — and read clearly by natural German neural voices.
Can I read the transcript afterwards?
Yes. After you submit your answers you get the full verbatim transcript plus an answer key, so you can see exactly which word you missed and why.
Is this an official Goethe-Institut product?
No. soruLab is an independent practice tool. The task formats follow the public structure of the exam, but for official model tests always check goethe.de.
