What a generated worksheet looks like

One real example

Leseverstehen · Niveau B1

Every generation is a new passage on a new topic — this is just one example.

Why B1 reading practice needs more than short texts

The jump from A2 to B1 is mostly a jump in text length and implicit meaning. The Goethe-Zertifikat B1 exam expects you to follow a multi-sentence opinion, recognize connectors like trotzdem, obwohl and deshalb, and answer questions where none of the three options repeats the text word-for-word. Practicing on the same two or three sample articles from a textbook does not build that skill — it just teaches you the answer to those specific texts.

soruLab's German Workbench writes a new B1-level article or forum-style passage and a new multiple-choice question set every time you generate, restricted to B1 grammar and vocabulary. You choose the topic — shared housing, work, travel, social media — and get a print-ready worksheet with an answer key in seconds.

Common questions

What does the Goethe B1 reading section actually test?

At B1 the Goethe-Zertifikat reading section moves beyond short notices to longer texts: blog/forum posts with an opinion, short newspaper-style articles, and situational notices you have to match to the right person. Questions ask you to identify the main argument, a specific detail, or the writer's attitude — not just a fact stated word-for-word.

How is B1 reading different from A1/A2?

At A1/A2 a text is a few sentences and the answer is usually stated directly. At B1 the passage is a full paragraph or more, often expressing an opinion or a sequence of events, and at least one question requires inference — understanding what the writer implies, not only what they state.

Is the vocabulary and grammar really B1 level?

Yes. The generator is constrained to B1 structures — subordinate clauses, present/past narrative, common connectors (obwohl, deshalb, trotzdem) — and everyday-to-semi-formal topics like work, housing, free time, and social issues, without drifting into B2 abstraction.

Can I get an answer key and explanations?

Yes, every generated worksheet includes a printable answer key, and you can add English explanations as an optional appendix page so you understand why an answer is correct, not just that it is.
